The Etropole Monastery "Holy Trinity" lies at a distance of 5 km east of the town of Etropole. There are reasonable guesses that the monastery has been founded in the Middle Ages. There is direct evidence for its existence after XV c. The monastery is also known with the mane of "Varovitetz" and during XVI and the beginning of XVII c. it gathers many monks - scribblers, compliers of ecclesiastical books, artists, which work for the preservation of the Bulgarian literature and writing. Here have been written several dozens of manuscripts found in the library of the monastery or scattered around other monasteries. Together with the bookman activity, artistic activities have also been developed at the monastery. The rewritten books have been decorated with painted title pages, letters, ornaments etc. Such books are: "Gospel" from 1577, "Prologue for September, October, November, December, January and February" 1602, gospels from XVIII c. and others. Icons have also been painter in the Etropole Monastery. A series of interesting icons is preserved. Such is the temple's icon "The Old Testament Trinity", painted in 1598. The monastery is burned and destroyed several times. The old church has been destroyed in XVIII c. At the site of the old one has been built a new church from 1858. Its builder is master Ivan Boyanin from Bratzigovo. It is a solid cross-dome building with a complex design. The church is not decorated with murals. There are some decorative plastic elements along the facades. The housing buildings are restored and date back to 1833.
