The town of Zavet has a population of about 3 500 inhabitants and lies at a distance of 35 km northeast of Razgrad. The town is a municipal centre of 6 component settlements. In the vicinities of the town have been discovered prehistoric findings, the remains of an ancient fortress and a medieval settlement. The settlement is described in the Ottoman documents from 1585. The region is specialized in the production of grains, technical cultures, poultry farms and pharmacy.
