The town of Vetovo has a population of 5 000 inhabitants and lies at a distance of 32 km southeast of Russe. Vetovo is the municipal centre of 6 settlements. In the vicinities of the town there are remains of prehistoric settlements. There are kaolin deposits near the town. The region is specialized in the production of grains and technical cultures, vine-growing and stock breeding.
