The town of Kaspichan has a population of 3 600 inhabitants and lies at a distance of 22 km northeast of Shumen. Kaspichan is the municipal centre of 8 settlements. The town is known under the name of Shuma Road until 1880. The first evidence for the town is found in the Ottoman documents from 1573. Kaspichan is a junction station of the railway lines Russe-Varna and Sofia -Varna. The municipality is specialized in the production of grains, fruits, vegetables and the faience industry.
