The town of Valchi dol has a population of 4 000 inhabitants and lies at a distance of 50 km northwest of Varna. Valchi dol is the administrative municipal centre of 21 settlements. The town is known under the name of Kurtdere until 1934. In the region of the municipality have been discovered traces of a Thracian and Slavic settlements.
