The village of Borovan has a population of 2 700 inhabitants and lies at a distance of 28 km north of Vratza. Borovo is the centre of a municipality with 4 component settlements. The municipality is specialized in the production of grains, technical cultures and stock breeding. On the territory of the village have been discovered archaeological findings dating from the Halcolith, the Bronze Age and the Ancient Times. Borovan is registered in the Ottoman documents from XV c.
