The town of Lyubimetz is the centre of a municipality lying at a distance of 52 km southeast of Haskovo. The municipality has 9 component settlements. Lyubimetz has a population of 8 000 inhabitants and is situated along the Maritza River. The settlement is known under the name of Hebibchevo until 1906. The region is specialized in the manufacture of wine, tobacco, fruit and vegetable growing. In the region of Lyubimetz there are remains of a Roman station on the ancient road connecting Europe with Asia, a medieval settlement and a necropolis.
