The town of Maglizh has a population of about 4 000 inhabitants and is the municipal centre of 14 component settlements. It lies at a distance of 25 km north of Stara Zagora. In the region of the municipality there are remains of Thracian settlements, a Roman tomb, a medieval fortress and over 30 burial mounds. The town is known since XIII c. and is mentioned in the Ottoman documents from 1676. At a distance of 2,5 km from the town is located the Maglizh monastery.
Tourist sights
The Maglizh Monastery "Saint Nikolay Chudotvoretz" is founded in the Middle Ages. The monastery is plundered and burned down several times during the period of the Ottoman yoke. More about 'Stara Zagora district' :
