The town of Ahtopol is situated in the Municipality of Tzarevo at a distance of 11 km southeast of the municipal centre. It has a population of 1 200 inhabitants. Ahtopol is the most southern town on the Black Sea coast. There is a port in the town. The settlement is specialized in fishery, vine and fruit growing. At the site of the present-day settlement has existed the ancient Greek colony Agatopol. During XIII-XIV c. the settlement is a trade port and until 1829 it has been a bishop's centre.
