People with the names of Todor, Teodor, Totyo, Toshko and Dora celebrate their name's day on this day.

According to the Bulgarian tradition Saint Todor is the patron of the horse. The horse has been worshiped by the people of these lands since ancient times. It is the main asset of the Thracian gods. Ritual reliefs of the Thracian horseman or Heres can be seen around Bulgaria. The pre-Bulgarian medieval monuments are a combination of the sun's sign with the image of a horse. On this day people worship the horse for its loyalty and devotion. People organize horse rides (kushii) to test the bachelor's qualities and their readiness to enter into marriages. This is their public acknowledgement. Saint Todor is also the patron of fertility and natality. This is also the day when the young married women are acknowledged. The women married within the year enter the church carrying bread and corn and after going out of the church they are ready to get pregnant, give birth, bake and give bread. On this day women should not work so that they can get easily pregnant and give an easy birth.

People bake ritual bread on Todor's Day. It is decorated with figures of a horse or a horse's head. It is consecrated in the church where it is taken by young married women. Often people break the bread and give the horses and the animals before giving it away to other people. On the holiday's table people put lentils dishes, mushroom dishes, nettles salad, lyutenitza and other vegetarian dishes.
